Westfield's 50th Anniversary goes off without a hitch!
The weather could not have been better. The humidity and rain stayed away to make a comfortable weekend. Volunteers, both past and present, along side staff, sponsors and supporters enjoyed an evening of music on June 14. The Friends of Westfield also took the opportunity to plant a tree at the School House to commemorate the significant year.
June 15 was another beautiful day. Visitors to the site had the opportunity to see a special display in the Ironwood Hall and enjoy some Birthday cake. Guided tours of the original seven buildings were offered. A slide presentation and 50th Anniversary commemorative video were highlighted at the Village Theatre. The Rockton Antique and Hobby group added to the day with Steam Traction Engine rides and an antique tractor display. The highlight of the afternoon was the parade through the Village complete with a marching drum line.

Popular Local Museum
Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Where can you run
your hand along the wall of a 1793 log cabin, help operate a Victorian printing
press, check out the sleeping quarters in an 1830 inn and admire the “modern”
plumbing of an Edwardian home? And
that’s just the start of your day? Westfield
Heritage Village, of course!
First opened
to the public in 1964, Westfield will celebrate its 50th anniversary
this year, and what a year it’s going to be!
A full schedule of unique, fun and educational programming is being
planned, highlighting the best of Westfield.
Whether you are a long-time fan or have not yet discovered Westfield,
you will want to visit the museum’s website or call for a brochure and start
marking your calendar.
As part of
its anniversary celebrations, Westfield is recording its own colourful
past. Do you have stories, memories or
photos of Westfield that you would like to share? Does your name belong on the list of past
volunteers or community partners? Whatever
your connection, big or small, the people at Westfield would like to hear from
you! Please call (519) 621-8851 or send
